Thesis

The investigation of alternative fuel use during heat-and-power equipment operations

In thesis I research a possible using of methane conversion  for rational incineration of fuel in heat-and-power equipment.

Hydrocarbon conversion is a primary method of receiving of hydrogen and gas synthesis. The essence of this process is interaction between hydrocarbons with water steam, carbon dioxide and oxygen. Product gas is a mixture of hydrogen, oxide and carbon dioxide and methane.

There are some variants of methane transformation into synthesis gas (mixture of hydrogen and carbon dioxide) - steam or carbon-dioxide conversion and oxidation by air or pure oxygen. Carbon-dioxide conversion of methane is almost not used in industry, because after it we receive product gas with low ratio Í2:ÑÎ (1:1). Another method — steam and oxygen-steam conversion of methane is used in industry fairly wide. Under high temperatures (800-900îÑ) and moderate pressures (1-3 MPa) with the help of catalysts (Ni) reaction follows out.

Developed by the technique "Composition of hydrocarbon conversion gases" program is suitable for determination of hydrocarbon conversion gases characteristics in the range of change process characteristics.

Input data for program is low heat value of mixture of nature gas and blast-furnace gas (MJ), pressure (atm), and ratio of conversion oxidants (steam and air) and methane.

At writing this abstract, masters work is not completed yet. In future using of conversion on concrete aggregates (industrial furnaces, boilers etc.) will be considered.
