Author's abstract of master's work

Introduction

           In general understanding, the corporate network is a difficult complex interconnected and in coordination functioning program and hardware components, providing an information transfer between various remote applications and the systems used at the enterprise. With a presence of several data-processing centers, corporate networks concern to distributed (or decentralized) computing systems.

Actualization

           The modern corporate segment requires the use of the multiservice networks, which main tendency is convergence the packet systems of data transmission and multimedia networks. As consequence — size increase of the information transfered on networks, in the first place intended for transfer only one kind of traffic, equipment overload, refusal a various parts of the network.

Goals and tasks

           The purpose of master's degree work researches is: increasing the productivity of functioning in a telecommunication infrastructure of corporate networks; increase the personal overall performance in the company because of acceleration of the network interaction with corporate business applications; decrease the risk of idle time of business applications because of possible not resolved access to corporate services from external and internal networks, and also threats of network attacks; increase the reliability of a network complex.

           The goal of this research is to working out a technique of upgrade the corporate multiservice data networks for all categories of users. Such network should be responsible for maintenance of high network safety, reliability of granting services with quality of service to corresponding classes of services and an effective control for system and work users.

Planned practical result

           For this concrete research work a task in view is to working out the typical design decision based on the modern equipment with an optimum combination of price and functionality. After working out of a technique of upgrade, the economic analysis of efficiency of the offered decisions will be carried out. Basis on the researches recommendations about introduction of the developed technique will be made.

Information safety problems place in corporate networks upgrading process

           In practice most of subsystems of information safety in corporate networks is under construction on 4 level safety models:

           1 level: regular protection frames of operating systems ; anti-virus packages; additional devices autentification the user and a protection frame of workstations from not resolved access; means of enciphering of applied level etc.;

           2 level: means safety of network operating systems are used; means of differentiation of access to divided resources; protection frames of the domain of a local area network; servers autentification users; gateway screens and proxy-servers; organisation VLAN means; sensors of attacks and vulnerability of protection of a local area network;

           3 level: application of technology Virtual Private Network (VPN);

           4 level: introduction group of technologies and the methods, allowing to build control systems of public keys and certificates - Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).

Making up the economic substantiation of an corporate network upgrading

           The practical substantiation process in upgrading the corporate network demands the answer to three questions: whether upgrade will allow saving the companies money, whether she will help to gain the companies money and whether it will promote increase of level of competitiveness of the company?

           One of popular and rather simple methods of estimation is the analysis of expenses at which the total cost of upgrade is compared to expected benefits. If upgrade cost looks comprehensible the offered design decision goes on performance.

           To establish, what will be expenses for the project, it is necessary to find out a total cost of possession taking into account cost of upgrade, current operations and service, etc. A total cost of possession for each network, therefore it is necessary to collect the information on expenses specific to our network. In many models of a total cost of possession expenses on the network equipment that can lead to wrong conclusions are considered only. For reception of more correct estimation it is necessary to consider also initial capital expenses for network upgrade, including expenses on attraction of advisers, training and the conclusion of contracts.

           One more important article of expenses are expenses for operation and service. Personnel wages, a payment for rent of premises, municipal and other services, the insurance, penalties for default of obligations and profit short-reception concern them.

           Despite all difficulties of a financial substantiation of upgrade, the analysis it should be spent with such degree of a detail which in a status to sustain check by time.

Conclusion

           The conducted researches define a circle of problems which decision will allow to use the received results even more effectively. For example, research of the newest technologies and network decisions will allow to apply more effectively the developed technique of upgrade of corporate networks which main objective — to raise efficiency of an operational administration of the company. And more rational use of capacity and IP-network possibilities will allow to optimise operation of communication channels, to cut expenses on rent and service of connecting lines.
