Short biography

Childhood

I was born in Donetsk on August, 29th, 1988 – exactly after 157 years after Michael Faraday's discovery of the electromagnetic induction effect. My father, Eugeniy Ivko, graduated from Donetsk National Technical University (DonNTU) on the speciality "Electrical systems and networks" and until now he remains faithfull to the chosen profession. Mother, Ludmila Ivko is an accountant by profession and a teacher by vocation.

It was long before my birth that parents chose me the name – Yevgeniya, that in translation from ancient Greek means "noble". All family was very glad about my appearance because I was the long-awaited second child in our family. According to my parent’s words, my elder sister named Nataly was happier than everyone. By that time she was already 13 years old and had dreamt of a younger sister since she was a little girl. It was she, who acquainted me with the strange word "psychology" when I was three years old and a remarkable white hamster, when I was about five. Also exactly thanks to her my first excursion visits to 142 school, in which I studied from the first to the eighth forms later, and now the native eighth building of DonNTU, happened. By the way, on that moment she studied in DonNTU on a department the "Electrical stations" of the Electrical Engineering Faculty (EEF).

In general childhood had a great importance in forming me as a personality. From the very first years the calmness and reasonableness began to show up in me. My parents behaved very liberally in relations with me – they let me go for a walk on puddles and did not make me learn poetry. It is quite possible that exactly due to such kind of education I grew up an obedient inquisitive child and up to now adore walking on recently fallen snow and a bright carpet of autumn foliage in the park, read both prose and poetry with great pleasure.

School

In 1995 I went to school 142 in Donetsk, a long and important period of my life began. From the first forms I attended drawing and folk dancing hobby groups, learned to knit and embroider. Later, in the fifth – sixth forms, I went in for modern dancing, took part in many performances. Beginning from the sixth – seventh forms I participated in competitions on mathematics, physics, Ukrainian language and literature, Russian language and literature, English language. My poems and essays were included in the collection of works by pupils of our school.

During the eighth form of school I went to preparation courses in Donetsk college. That year was very productive for me thanks to teachers on courses. During forms nine to eleven I studied in Donetsk college. At that time I devoted myself to studies, for which the best conditions were created in college. I continued participating in competitions and taking prize-winning places, always took part in the various events of weeks of English, in performances on different holidays, in conferences and discussions of Science Day.

It is impossible to choose the best teachers, because in college all of them were the very best and tried really hard to teach us to understand, analyse, explore and make conclusions. I'm very thankful to Victor Moroz, the teacher of history, philosopher and a literary critic. I would also like to mention Nataly Revzina, magnificent English teacher, and Irina Fomyna, our form master and mathematics teacher, wise woman and really talented teacher, who was always opened for pupils, helped and counseled us – in general, she became a teacher in all senses of this many-sided word for us.

In 2005 I graduated from Donetsk college with honours.

University

A choice of a university had been done long before the 11th form. My parents advised me insistently to choose EEF.

Now, after five years of studying in DonNTU, I am very grateful to B. Ivanov, E. Àlekseev, V. Dennik, A. Levshov, I. Zabolotnyi, E. Dmitrieva, À. Larin, I. Larina, S. Gryshanov, À. Melnik and other remarkable lecturers and assistants, teaching us all these years.

The next subjects are desirable to be marked out as they were the most essential, useful and interesting for me: higher mathematics, informatics, drawing, TFE, electrical machines, electrical apparatuses, electrical systems and networks, electromagnetic and electromechanical transitional processes, fundamentals of planning of electrical systems, relay defence and automatics.

I chose English as an optional class up to the end of the fourth year, but with the beginning of the fifth year this possibility in DonNTU vanished. That is why I joined the courses in English in DonNU and now a have got the certificate of DonNU stating that my knowledge in English is at the level of FCE.

After getting the bachelor's degree with honours in 2009 I had no doubts about the next step – I wanted to become a holder of a master's degree, both logic and intuition prompted the same. The choice of a scientific adviser and a subject of a master's work was not hard at all too. A long time ago I became interested in the topics of energy-efficient technologies and electromagnetic compatibility in electrical networks, these are questions that are examined by my scientific leader, prof. Elena Dmitrieva. With her help I decided that the subject of my master's work should be "Statistical simulation of stationary random processes in electrical networks", a really topical problem nowadays.

Writing and defence of my master's work and getting the FCE certificate – these are my plans for the near future.

After the realization of the nearest plans it would definitely be desirable to find a deserved job with an opportunity of the career advance, and after that – get the second higher education on the extramural courses.

I would also like to have enough free time for me personal interests in future. I can't imagine myself without reading, psychology and learning foreign languages.

Among further aims there are further self-perfection, round-the-world voyage and a mass of fulfilled ambitions.
