Short biography:

Childhood

I was born on 31 January, 1988 in a central maternity hospital of the glorious city of roses, i. e. Donetsk. Though at that time medicine was developed enough to allow happy parents to define their baby’s sex in advance, in my case it didn’t help much, even quite the contrary. My father Vladimir Kirillovich Taranenko, by that time having a daughter Olga Vladimirovna Taranenko, and reassured by doctors, who were looking in the unknown direction, believed until the last moment that for that time my mother Tamara Ivanovna Taranenko would give birth to a son. But no such luck! The one who was born was me.

As a child I was terribly restless, and my mother, used to my senior sister’s absolute calmness, didn’t know how to manage me. Being 5 month old, I tried to make my first steps, being 6 month old, I ate my first watermelon seed, and that was how it all started: broken glasses, plates, in short, everything was topsy-turvy. But there was one thing I can definitely be proud of: I did assemble the construction set my dad had presented me with. Probably I had already chosen my future profession then.

School

I got acquainted with Donetsk school ¹25, where I was to go, quite early because my mum worked at that school, and periodically brought me there, for me to get used to it, so to speak. The prospect to become a part of that large imposing building and all, taking place in it, made me very happy, especially the idea that unlike the kindergarten, there I wouldn’t have to sleep in the daytime. One of my first school remembrances is writing a dictation with sixth formers, when I was a first former, and not getting the worst result – so there! In spite of this, I wasn’t a humanist at all, and shone rather at exact sciences, and maths became my favourite subject at once. I was a pupil with predominant good marks, sometimes even a high achiever.

Being a good pupil, I wasn’t a swot, and took an active hand in my school social life from the first day of my studying there. And when I say ‘from the first day’, I mean it: that was me who rang the first school bell. I constantly participated in different competitions, and once even got the title ‘Miss Liveliness’, which was quite suggestive of my character.

After the 7th form, once and for all having decided to cast in my lot with technics, I entered Donetsk Technical Lyceum. There was only one crumpled rose-leaf, and that was parting with my dear school friends. But being sociable by nature, I started feeling comfortable with my classmates quickly enough, found new friends, and now I am even glad that I have twice as much former classmates as most people.

Firstly studying at lyceum wasn’t quite easy. I had a lot of homework to deal with, and the material was really advanced. Moreover, some new subjects were introduced. But such routine helped me to lay significant groundwork for studying at university. Gradually I got over all the difficulties, and finished lyceum, having a certificate of secondary education with excellent marks and city academic competitions awards. Meanwhile, I didn’t neglect my social activity, practically not a single holiday was held without my active participation. The most memorable event was being a presenter at the school-leaving party, and certainly… the farewell waltz, which I did, thanks to dancing skills, acquired in childhood, and a brilliant partner, of course.

University

Being a technical lyceum leaver, predictably, I entered a technical university, which made my dad quite a bit happy, since he also once graduated from Donetsk Polytechnic Institute, now proudly named Donetsk National Technical University. Although I acted so not because of that, but because I was interested in computer technologies and everything, related to them. In spite of my love of the computer and technology, and also the significant lyceum groundwork, at first my Alma Mater powerful stream of knowledge literally knocked me off my feet. There were sleepless nights with lectures notes and books, there were tears and small slips. But remembering the lyceum, I knew I’d cope with everything if I worked persistently, and confidently went towards my aim. And my aim was not just good marks and a degree with distinction. What I wanted and still want is to become a good specialist, a real professional in my subject. My dear university friends give me enormous support in my student life. We are tied by plenty of things: preparation for our Freshman Debut and the second place we won, Days of our Faculty, outings, rest in the university holiday hotels in Svyatogorsk and Alupka. It all has made our life bright, merry, productive, helped to feel that being a student is really cool.

Plans for the future

My plans for the future, as well as everyone else’s, are divided into professional and personal.

The former include getting a master’s degree, and it is desirable that I should take the one with distinction, just like my bachelor’s degree. Besides I hope to find an interesting, promising, well-paid job, which will give me both moral and material pleasure, help me to realize my true potential, and allow to make myself in the selected area.

As for my personal plans, here belong making a close-knit, friendly, happy family.
