The explosive impact of computers and information technology on our everyday lives has generated a need to design and develop new computer software systems and incorporate new technologies into a rapidly growing range of applications.

Studying at Donetsk national technical university I want to acquire a profession of computer applications software engineer.

Computer applications software engineers apply the principles and techniques of computer science, engineering and mathematical analysis to the design, development, testing and evaluation of the software and systems that enable computers to perform their many applications. Computer applications software engineers must possess strong programming skills, must be concerned with developing algorithms and analyzing and solving programming problems as well as actually writing code.

Computer applications software engineers are projected to be one of the fastest-growing occupations in the nearest future. There are three main directions of computer applications software engineers job – computer networking, database management and Internet application development. The expanding integration of Internet technologies and explosive growth in electronic commerce – doing business on the Internet – have resulted in rising demand for computer applications software engineers who can develop Internet and World Wide Web applications.

Today a lot of computer applications software engineers are occupied with database designing and database management because electronic data-processing systems are the main tool for automation of complex processes in industry, business, telecommunications and management.

Computer technologies assume wide use of the computer information systems based on the database concept. According to this concept the information technology basis is data organized in a database with the purpose of adequate display of changes taking place in the world and users’ information needs satisfaction.

The increase in volume and structural complexity of stored data, continuous expansion of a number of information systems users has put forward the requirement of creation convenient general integration tools for stored data and their management. It resulted in appearance the first industrial database management systems – the specialized software intended for database organization and conducting in the end of 60-ies of the last century.

Today a great attention is paid to the automation of the various processes connected with humans’ labour activity. All possible archives and libraries are replaced with the electronic bases that allow carrying out searching, editing and addition of the information much more quickly. One possibility of such electronic bases use is for privatization process.

The task of my course work is the development of the applied information system called "Privatization" intended for automation of objects privatization process by proprietors in specific region. The purpose of automation is to simplify and increase information processing and storage reliability.

It is necessary to execute two major steps for the decision of a data processing problem using relational database management system:

  1. Design effective structure of tables and their interrelations (construct model of data).
  2. Provide the convenient user interface (develop the application).

Let's examine in more detail a technique of realization of the given tasks.

Designing begins with drawing up the list of all primary goals, which should be solved within the limits of an examined subject domain. For each task the data necessary for its decision are defined. Data are defined on the basis of familiarizing with all entrance and target documents, forms, reports, various information circulating in a subject domain. After the analysis of data it is necessary to execute their binding to objects of a subject domain, to present objects in the interconnected normalized tables. The set of tables and their fields, relations between tables are reflected in the data scheme presented in figure 1.

Designing of the application begins with the association of tasks in subject groups and representation of sequence of their performance. The general requirements to the application are defined, the input system and data control is thought over, necessary data queries are formulated. The model of the application and the user interface is created. The operation of the applied program is presented in the form of information streams interaction and reflected in figure 2.

Database management system Microsoft Access 2000 is used as the toolkit for the application development. The system has convenient interface and powerful means on granting and data processing using the latest achievements of information technologies.

The applied system, database "Privatization" is the result of my course work. The developed applied system allows to automate entry and storage of the information about privatization processes. The queries that allow to receive various information from a database are realized. It is possible to add new aspects and data connected with the subject domain as the further improvement of the system. The applied program is simple in operation. Management and work with it as with an independent database can be carried out directly by Microsoft Access means. Also the database can serve as an information material, for example, for the Internet sites covering a problem of privatization. In this case access to data is carried out by special server applications means.

Thus, today database is effective mean of storage and data processing in manufacture processes, business and management. Database management systems are accessible in business sphere, giving the developers powerful data control facilities and rich toolkit in creation of applied programs and systems.
