Abstract

Relevance

Surface displacement monitoring on undermined territories involves systematic instrumental observations on surveyor observation stations. Traditional technology of these measurements, based on geometric leveling on profile lines and distance measurements with steel tape measures, is high accurate, but at the same time is rather time-consuming. So now there are attempts to use total stations in the measurements at surveying observational stations, because in this case high speed of shooting and measurement results processing is provided.

However, the usage of electronic total station does not guarantee the attainment of the required accuracy in lengths and elevations calculations. In this situation it is necessary to do a mathematical estimation of the precision, which takes into account coordinates determination error, and allows to choose the configuration that minimizes errors. This makes it possible to know if the new technique, based on the use of the total station, complies with the normative documents requirements. In addition, recommendations to the survey points location and traverses can be formulated based on the accuracy analysis.

UkrNIMI in projects of the protection of buildings and structures in complex geological conditions ensures the implementation of instrumental observations of the Earth's surface displacement under the influence of mining. The results of instrumental observations used in determining, selecting and refining the measures of objects protection, choosing methods of coal extraction under the facilities, as well as to adjust the methods of forecasting displacements and deformations. Observations performed using traditional techniques (direct leveling, measuring distances with steel tape measures), as well as modern techniques (total station, GPS-receiver) [12].
