Underground transportation in coal mines is effected with various types of conveyers. Curved face chain conveyer is designed for use in flat seams where the working conditions call for changing the direction of coal transportation from the zone of operation of the mining machine to the loading station through an angle of 90 degrees and more thick, as well as in the development headings driven by the shortwall method. It is also suitable for operation in other branches of industry where the direction of load transportation must be varied without reloading appliances.
The conveyer comprises a drive, driving and idle heads, chains and flights and a pan line with the curved trough. A novel design of the chains and flights and curved trough ensures the variation of the direction of flight movement without turning the flights radially. Owing to this arrangement, in order to remove mined material from the end of the face there is no need for extending the boom of the shearer.
The low face-side member of the conveyer pan greatly contributes to the efficiency of loose coal loading both by the ramp plates of the conveyer along the full length of the face.
The conveyer features an automatic chain tensioner. The construction of the main subassemblies provide for conveying installation both in the left-hand and in the right-hand faces. Material transportation speed can be varied by interchanging the gears of the drive gearbox.
