Chair of mine surveying and geodesy
The chair
is created in 1953 in connection with the students’ studying of mining, and then
building profile of general engineering disciplines: geodesy and mine surveying.
The chair trains engineers-mine surveyors and engineers - geodesists in
specialities: "Mine surveying" (since 1957) and “Applied geodesy” (since 1999)
at the day time and correspondence faculties. The training has been conducted in
the state language since 1999. Due to great demand in engineers - mine surveyors
since 2001 the chair has been training experts at the faculty of urgent
education to get the second high education.
In 2003 in the chair staff
there were 2 doctors of engineering science, a professor, 2 candidates of
engineering science, 7 senior teachers, 4 junior members of the teaching staff,
post-graduate students, trainees-researchers and 2 undergraduates. All the
teachers have base education: the engineer-mine surveyor and engineer -
geodesist in specialities «Mine surveying» and «Applied geodesy».
The
chair is situated in the mining (II) building on the fourth floor and has four
equipped subject classes, educational laboratories and auxiliary rooms of the
total area 435sq.m.
From 1953 to 1960 the first enrollment of the
students in speciality "Mine surveying" was realized, the teaching-methodical
and material base of the chair became stronger. Realization of research
operations together with mines and the first defence of the candidate
dissertations began.
Teaching work at the chair is multi-side and
directed to increase the quality of experts training. It is based on the
creation of teaching-methodical and technical base and selection of staff, and
also in the creative approach to working out of typical and working curriculums
of specialities and working programs in special disciplines.
The basic
educational, methodical work falls at the period of work of the chair head,
Corresponding Member of the State Science Academy I.I.Popov, when mine
surveying-geodetic devices, goniometers, compasses, theodolites and gradiometers
of various accuracy, telescopic alidades and plane tables, gyro-theodolites,
gyrocompasses, long-measures, laser indexes of direction, light- and radio
range-finder, laths and measuring tapes and tape-lines were got. On disciplines
of speciality "Mine surveying" alongside with the purchase of textbooks for the
library there were worked out methodical instructions for laboratory and
practical work, teaching aids for basic disciplines: geodesy, mine surveying in
underground extraction, mine surveying in mine construction, rocks shifting,
mining geometry and mathematical statistics in mining and mine surveying.
To increase training quality software of the programmable training system
with game modeling of problem situations has been developed and introduced into
the teaching of basic disciplines. This system is marked by the diploma the USSR
Ministry of Higher Education (1988).
On the base of sports-and-health
camp "«Politechnic" (Karkaralinsk) the geodetic training ground for passing
practice is created.
The chair worked out I and II generation of the
state and educational standard in speciality "Mine surveying". Training
laboratory «Automation of mine surveying-geodetic measurements », equipped with
computers, electronic tacheometer (3Та5), geo-information systems and
stereo-photogrammetric equipment has been created, the branch of the chair has
been organized on the basis of the Kazakh research surveying institute and state
enterprise "«Centermarkshederia". Subject auditoriums of the chair are decorated
with the special posters, surveying-geodetic devices and demonstration drawings.
Two textbooks have been issued: « Mine surveying at underground mining» and
«Surveying at mined-land reclamation ».
The scientific activity of the
chair is carried out in close connection with design and research organizations
and manufacture. Complex experimental researches of the analysis of
physical-and-mechanical properties of rocks and structure of edge masses,
working out calculating schemes of stability of quarry slopes, substantiation of
rational parameters of quarry's slopes, benches both edges and working out
measures for maintenance slope stability at the design contour were realized.
The results of the researches are included in technical projects and are
introduced in quarries in the opencast mining of mineral deposits. Now at the
chair a research laboratory works « Mine surveying, geo-mechanics and
geometrization of entrails » with the annual volume of contracts of the sum 5,0
million tenge, and also UNPC «S and G» for the improvement of professional skill
of the mine surveyors and geodesists successfully.
The basic scientific
directions of the chair are: estimation steadiness of quarries and open-cast
mining slopes, benches and edges, rocks shifting, analysis of rock pressure,
estimation of losses and dilution of mineral resources, and also analysis and
intrusion of geo-information systems at mining deposits of mineral resources.
The chair students actively participate in the activity of scientific
circles on the analysis of mine surveying-geodetic devices, calculating methods
of steadiness of quarry slopes, geo-information systems in the mining and ground
cadastre. The chair staff participates in republican and international
conferences, annually in April carries out scientific-and-practical conference
devoted to the memory of Corresponding Member of the State Science Academy
I.I.Popov, has close connections with related chairs of the countries of CIS: in
Russia with the Moscow State Mining University, Ekaterinburg State
Mining-and-Geologic Academy, Magnitogorsk State Mining-and-Metallurgical
Academy; in Uzbekistan with the Tashkent State Technical University, in
Kirghizia with the Russian-Kirghiz University, Mining Company «Kumtor».
A
great contribution to the development of scientific researches of the chair in
different periods of time was made by doctors of engineering science, professor
Popov I.I., Popov V.N.., Okatov R.P., Shpakov P.S.., Poklad G.G., Nizametdinov
F.K. and candidates of engineering science, senior teachers: Jumadildina B.I.,
Yunakov Y. L., Lyagina O.I.
The training of the
scientific-and-pedagogical staff at the chair has been conducted since 1964 by
the defence of the candidates’ and doctors’ dissertations in speciality: "«Mine
surveying" in the specialized Councils in the following cities: Leningrad (LSI),
Moscow (MSI), Sverdlovsk (SSI), Magnitogorsk (МГМИ), Alma-Ata (KazPTI) and
Karaganda (KSTU).
The results of the educational-methodical and research
work of the chair are published in scientific and technical journals and in the
proceedings, in the 3 textbooks, in the manuals (24), monographies (9), the
brochures (12) and are confirmed by the copyright certificates (5).
For
the period of existence of the chair 917 mining geologists-surveyors have been
trained. Many of them became doctors of sciences and professors. Among the
graduates there are heads of enterprises.
For the achieved success in
science and for high efficiency of carrying out scientific-research work and
projects in the field of stability of quarry slopes control in 1988 the creative
collective received I and II degree diplomas at the exhibitions HANE Kaz.SSR and
USSR and was marked by silver medals. And in 1989 diplomas of the Winners of the
premium of Ministry Council of the Kazakh Republic in the field of science and
engineering were awarded to I.I.Popov, R.P. Okatov, P.S. Shpakov, G.G. Poklad,
F.K. Nizametdinov.
For the introduction of the system of programming
students training with game modeling of problem situations on basic special
disciplines (geodesy, mine surveying, rocks displacement and mathematical
statistics) into the educational process professors Popov I.I. and Pokladov G.G.
got diploma of Ministry of Higher Educational Institution of the USSR (1988).
In 1990 diploma with presentation of a memorial medal for the results of
regional competition «The Engineer of a Year » in the field of science and
engineering was awarded to Nizametdinov F.K.
Modern level of the
development of science and mining manufacture requires realization of mine
surveying - geodetic operations in the electronic-automated mode. Therefore in
training experts significant attention is given to the analysis of new
electronic mine surveying-geodetic devices and personal computers with use of
geo-information systems.
Prospects of the chair development consist in
the completion of its material base with the equipment, with modern computers,
colour plotter, laser roulette and a special geodetic device GPS, permitting to
define coordinates of points by a satellite navigation system, that will permit
to conduct qualitatively the training of experts in two specialities: «Mine
surveying» and «Applied geodesy».
