Abstract


Actuality of theme

         The limestones have an extraordinarily wide application domain. They are used for the preparation of flux (in metallurgy), for building, in lime and cement production, in the production of silicate bricks, in chemical industry, in a sugar manufacture etc. Mostly, they are applied in the metallurgical industry as a flux. The introduction of new technological processes in metallurgy requires the upgrading of flux limestone quality as for chemical composition and mechanical strength. The exhaustion of supplies of high quality raw material producing fields and closing of open-cast mines, caused by worsening of ecological situation, demanded urgent commissioning of new deposits. Therefore the exploration of Rodnikovskoye deposit (Donetsk region) has been initiated. The detailed studying of geological conditions, tectonics and a chemical composition of limestones will give the possibility to substantiate connection of geological factors with the quality of raw materials on the territory of Rodnikovskoye deposit.

         This scientific work is connected with the National program of the development of mineral resources base of Ukraine for the period until 2030 according to the section "Non-metallic raw materials for metallurgy" subsection "Flux limestones and dolomites”. It is held according to the instructions of the state enterprise “Southukrgeology” Azov GPE.



The research aim is that in the exploration of the factors of changeability of limestones quality and its spatial distribution to optimize the bench working of Rodnikovskoye deposit.

 


The research tasks:
1) to examine the quality of limestones in the south-western part of Donbass;
2) to obtain statistical characteristics of the changeability of limestone quality exponents;
3) to identify the geological factors influencing the distribution of special quality indices on the different parts of deposit;
4) to determine the dependence of limestones quality with the bedding conditions;
5) to make the comparative analysis of limestones quality with the technical requirements of different branches of industry;
6) to devise practical recommendations for further bench working of Rodnikovskoye deposit.


The idea of research is to verify the known theoretical factors of changeability of the limestones chemical structure in Rodnikovskoye deposit.


The object of research is Rodnikovskoye deposit of flux limestones of the Donetsk region.


The subject is spatial regularities of the distribution of limestones quality, their connection with geological factors.


The research methods:
- statistical processing of the initial data;
- analysis of the graphic material to determine the structural features of the object (geological map of the area, hypsometric plans, stratigraphic columns etc.);
 - tabulation the samplings of data base for comparative characteristics of individual elements of the object;
 - spatial analysis of the distribution of useful and harmful components of essential minerals on the investigated object;
 - the method of system analysis of the processing results for creating the models of changeability of limestones quality.


Scientific novelty of the obtained results

          For the first time the change of qualitative indices of carbonate thickness in south-western part of Donbass was analyzed. It were devised the criterions of the limestones quality for the bench working of Rodnikovskoye deposit. It were also established the regularities of spatial distribution of the quality changes of essential minerals.


The practical value of the results

         It were marked the areas with a high quality limestones stuff within Rodnikovskoye deposit. The recommendations concerning the technology process of the further bench working of the deposit were also made.


Personal contribution

         I systematized the earlier investigations, determined the tasks of the research, formed the samplings, made the statistical analysis and interpretation of findings. Based on these studies, the results of the work are presented in graphical form. It were also compiled practical recommendations.


Approbation of the results

         The problems of this research were raised at the II All-Ukrainian scientific conference-school for young scientists "Modern problems of geological sciences", held in Kiev, April 12-15, 2010. My report on a theme “Improvement of the technology of exploration and bench working of flux limestone deposits” is printed in the theses of the conference.

Practical conclusions and recommendations

         The master’s work comprises the detailed investigation of limestones quality of south-western part of Donbass. The statistical characteristics of quality indices changeability for individual stratigraphic limestone beds and for useful power differ a lot. The average content of limestone qualitative exponents in particular horizons of Rodnikovskoye deposit is different. It was revealed the decrease of quality chacteristics in 3 times with averaging performance across the useful power field. The reducing of quality is caused by the dolomitization, silicification, calcitization and leaching. The most negative factor is the karst. Due to the differences in the quality characteristics of particular stratigraphic layers of the deposit, it is recommended to count up reserves for each consumer separately. The bench working of Rodnikovskoye deposit should be carried out layer by layer, taking into account differences in the structure of stratigraphic beds of the producing formation. In this case, type will satisfy the specifications of a particular industry. Such technology of selective bench working is recommended for deposits of nonmetallic raw materials.
