Master's biography
Childhood
My name is Galyna Volokhova, I was born on September, 23rd, 1990 in Zaporizhzhya, Ukraine. My parents are: mother — Olena Volokhova, was born in 1968, father — Viktor Volokhov, was born in 1963.
From the early years my mother taught me English language, and today, learning this language for 17 years already, I can speak it fluently.
When I was a little girl I loved painting and I achieved some success in doing it.
I was also excited with travelling. I listened to my relatives and friends, talking about travelling abroad, admiringly. And finally, at the age of 12, I made my first trip abroad – bus tour across the Europe. Later I was able to see quite a lot of places all over the world and I hope to continue my travelling in the future and visit some more countries around the Earth.
School
At the age of 6 I attended school # 17 and graduated from it 10 years later.
Physics became one of my favorite school courses, unfortunately it only started being taught in 7th form. And, till this day, I believe that the greatest tutor I had is my school Physics teacher — Anatoliy Bragha.
The biggest disappointment I had in school was the Chemistry course. The relationships between me and my teacher appeared not to be good from the first lesson, that is why I felt no interest in Chemistry and did not want to learn it at all.
In high school I became interested in biology and history and I was thinking to enroll medical university or the historical faculty. Moreover, my best friend was already attending medical university courses, so I was going to enroll with her.
However, my mother advised me to choose occupation in engineering area and in the 11th form I started taking additional Math and Informatics courses, preparing for the enrollment to Computer engineering faculty (CE, later renamed to CST — Computer science and technologies) of the Donetsk national technical university (DonNTU).
University
According to my grade on the
entry qualification exam, that was held in winter–spring
2007, I was
assigned to PS–07b group, Software
for automated systems
specialty
of the CE faculty.
Studying in university appeared
to be quite hard. The biggest difficulty I faced with was Rocket
science
course, while I felt
myself with confidence in Math as I had a good school background.
I spent a wonderful time taking
courses from professors at Applied
Math and Informatics
department
of the CST faculty. All of them are professionals in their areas.
Thanks to them, I opened up my talents and got a good base in IT field;
all of the other knowledges and skills will come up later.
Graduational state exam became
the last step in the bachelor degree course, it was held in summer,
2011. As a result of A
grade, I enrolled to the state–financed Master of Science
group. My
research advisor is PhD of technical sciences, Tetyana Mikhaylova.
Master’s project theme is Balancing load
in parallel computing systems
Future plans
In the nearest future I plan to successfully graduate the university and receive my Master of Science degree. At the moment I am studying German language and hope to learn it within short. Later I am going to continue developing my professional skills, taking care about my career and family.
