Author's abstract


3G cellular network:

For the last ten years the technology of mobile radio communication has got wide use in different spheres of human activities. Its improvement and then further generation change of the mobile radio communication is connected directly with the researches which are held in this sphere, with a research of the new technologies which are based on the narrowband transmission, and already on the broadband transmission of information now. So crossing one step after another, they started with the analog cellular connection - its 1G generation, confidently stepped over the border of figures radio communication and approached the third generation based on the broadband transmission. Until quite recently the main factor determining the development of mobile communications was a traditional voice transmission. But now people want to use their mobile telephones not only for conversation. The introduction of new technologies with high transmission, as GPRS and EDGE, and the evolution of 3G generation enables operators of cellular connection to give unlimited wireless multimedia services for example mobile television, Web-pages viewing, eccess to the corporational networks and extended voice services. A great advantage of the second generation networks is that they are basis, foundation networks for the third generation networks. UMTS is one of the 3G standards, which is developed under the command of the European Telecommunicatios Standardizational Institute ETSI. It was developed as the basis of the most widespread technology of mobile connection GSM and has got all the perspectives to become a reall global standard of the personal multimedia connection. The aim of the present undergraduates thesis is making a plan of the devopment of UMTS network for the conditions of Marrakesh city, the large city of Morokko, the population of which is more than a million people. The development includes the determination of prospective users market in the early stage of planning. And then using the information about telephone subscribers, services used by them, traffic character and its amounts to determine more exact area of network radiocover.

The task of designing the 3G UMTS cellular connection network in Marrakesh.:

It was developed as the basis of the most widespread technology of mobile connection GSM and has got all the perspectives to become a reall global standard of the personal multimedia connection.The mobile radio communication network of UMTS standard (Universal Mobile Telecommunicatios System) - is a system of mobile cellular communication of the third generation, which is developed within the framework of IMT 2000 program.The purpose of UMTS is a development of networks, which will be able to provide full-value global rouming and to support a wide range of services in the voice transmossion area, information and multimedia. the radioaccess networks of this generation will provide an information exchange with a speed of 144 Kbit/s for subscribers with high mobility (the traffic speed up to 120 km/h), 384 Kbit/s for subscribers with low mobility (the traffic speed up to 3 km/h) and 2,048 Mbit/s.UMTS network is developed as a basis of GSM standard success and investments into the infrastructure, which are made by the already existing GSM operators.A big part of the starting UMTS tasks, such as global rouming and individualisation of service was achived during GSM standard development.
