I, Paul Kharchenko, was born on March 10, 1982 in Donetsk. In the year 1987 I have been attending a kindergarten. In the year 1988 I started my school classes in the school #136, where I have been studying up to the 7th grade. In the 7th grade, along with several classmates transferred to the school #122 - a rather new school with different biases. Since I have always favoured exact sciences, I had chosen physico-mathematical bias without any hesitations. There was a remarkable teacher staff, among them I would distinguish the teachers of Physics -- A. Kovalenko, History -- Y. Vorob'yov, and Math -- R. Ayriyan. They could make the learning of their subjects the most interesting with their original, impromptu approach. During my studies at school I was deeply intersted in electronics and programming. I participated in various kinds of school contests and public activities and was more than once honored for the best results in Informatics and Physics competitions. During all this time I did various sports. In 1998, I graduated high school with '5' and '4' marks. When finishing my 11th grade, I had decided to enter DonNTU, since it is considered to be one of the best universities in Ukraine and is the only university in Donetsk that provides military training. Since I was interested in nuclear physics, electrotechnics and alternate energy sources, I had chosen the 'Power plants' speciality of Electrotechnics faculty. In 1998's spring I took part in the rating tests and, as a winner, entered the university passing by the entrance exams. I've had a good results studying in the university. There, I participated in Physics and Electrical Machines comptetitions, where I headed the prize lists. From the 4th year I took part in research engineering and had chosen the topic for my Master's thesis. Performing practical and term papers, I took initiative of embedding IT into educational process (e.g. - Visual C++, AutoCAD). The main goal of my Master's thesis is the creation of a program using MSVC++, able to model transients in electical system interactively within visual interface. I have chosen this topic because of my great experience in programming, and of a possibility to implement programming to the energetic tasks, which fits with my speciality and is likely to be a promising direction. The scientific advisor - Sc. D., prof. V. Sivokobylenko, head of 'Power plants' department, has rich experience in mathematical modeling of electrical systems, particularly those with engine loading. After graduating the university I would like to widen my knowledge of the new techologies in electrical parts of power plants, and continue scientific research. In the nearest future, I plan, jointly with a magistrant S. Tkachenko, to release a commercial version of PowerNet™ software product, that would be the realisation of my thesis. In perspective, this program could be implemented into production and educational processes of power plants and other enterprises dealing with electroenergetics. |
