Subject of the master's degree work: “Development of specialized computer system for determination environment acid-base balance”.

Scientific adviser: Doctor of Philosophy Gerasimov I.G.

 E-mail: determus@dmitry.ru

I was born 10/28/1983 in Donetsk city.

Parents:
Father: Tokarev Valentin T.;
Mother: Tokareva Tamara I.

Childhood

In preschool age I was an ordinary child. My first public place was kindergarten "Sly fox-cubs" of Donetsk city. Teachers opinions on my personality were different – some of them praised me for serene behavior, they said I didn’t cause particular problems; others asserted that I was a fidget and wild child. In that time girls and boys from my common area often tried to overstate their age. I wasn't an exception, and also boasted in front of my contemporaries that I learned in "2-À" or "1-B". And when they surprised having believed in my tale I sensed special pride and self magnitude. Thus, my initial knowledge I've gained from my mother who always devoted much attention to education. I badly wanted to go to school and finally I seize it upon.

School

On September the first, 1990, I went to the school of general education #16 in Donetsk city where I began my studies. That was the time when I was interested in absolutely all things. I didn't prefer individual subjects; they were all equally interesting to me due to their novelty. I actively entered the study process and I was kind of a sponge that greedily absorbed useful information. And that, of course, yielded its fruits (till present days in family archives are kept numerous deeds for excellent study and for victories in school Olympiads). During five years I was stable head boy of our class, actively took part in school social life, participated in different school measures (intellectual competitions, creative contests). I well remember my first teacher and grateful to her for that she created my initial knowledge base. Maybe I would graduate from my first school, but my destiny had other plans. Parents began to think about my further prospects and having talked with mathematics teacher decided to point me in 'precise' direction.

Having successfully passed elimination mathematics contest I became student of 7-À class of specialized physical and mathematical school #35 of Donetsk city. I don't know what about now, but back then it was one of the "strongest" schools. In the beginning precise disciplines didn't came as easy as humanitarian ones. But with time I adapted myself to new conditions, and it became easier to study. I think that if one asks any of my former classmates how it was for him to study, no one says that it was easy. We were so overloaded with mathematics, physics and so on, that few of us had much of free time. I very liked physical training classes; there we had an opportunity to play soccer or basketball. I hadn't peculiar achievements in new school - was awarder of city Olympiads (mainly biology, chemistry and history). As a result of very intense studies I graduated from school with distinction.

University

Why have I chosen Donetsk State Technical University (now Donetsk National Technical University) and speciality CSD? All is that easy - after my graduation from school parents studied institutes of higher education of Donetsk city, information about existent specialities. At last their eyes were caught by "intriguing mix" consisting of perspective computer technologies and medicine. Since my interest to the latter showed up on a school chair and computer is the future, it was speciality "Computer Systems of Diagnosis in Medicine and Technic" (CSD) of Computer and Information Technologies (CITA) faculty that I've chosen. Having passed entrance examination a grade of a I've earned a budget place on chosen speciality.

Thus, on September the first, 2000, I for the first time entered to the building #7 of the Donetsk State Technical University and went for the higher mathematics class. The first impressions were contradictory; on one hand, it was interesting to socialize with new people, it was nicely to realize that you know just a little bit more than the others (on higher mathematics class they explained complex numbers which we already studied in school), on the other, at the programming seminar I had a little shock which name's computer. We practically didn't have informatics in the school; many of the pupils didn't have personal computers. And to prepare for practical programming classes I had to go to my father's work. Yet I don't reckon that the first year was the hardest for me. Thanks to the school teachers I had very large store of knowledge. But still, the absence of a computer had its drawbacks. It was the main problem which parents soon were able to solve, and by the end of the first year I had at home "weak" PC. I passed the first session rather successfully and till present days I have "educational grasp". Certain efforts, persistence, high capacity to work contributed to getting a red bachelor diploma in 2004. Although I haven't prominent merits in student period of my life, I reckon that to study to master's degree is a considerable personal achievement.

Master's degree work

Motives of choosing the subject of master's degree work were very intriguing. At the meeting of master's of the chair we were familiarized with general regulations of further educational activities, with ways of accounting, i.e. we were told all that we needed, and we were given the list of master's degree works subjects. Personally for myself, and for many of us, it was bolt from the blue. In addition, I've gotten new scientific adviser, who'd determined direction of my scientific activity. He's been Doctor of Philosophy Gerasimov Igor G. This man is highly qualified expert in both medical and technical domains of science, has huge experience and is generator of all kinds of ideas, which we rather successfully realize. The subject of master's degree work is the following: "Development of specialized computer system for determination environment acid-base balance". Initial data is color imageries of environment and essential principle of work is working with color. Main objectives in process of program realization of the problem put by are the following:

1. Obtain folging of the photo (parameters of color photo).
2. Subtract 'background' from the photo (environment without indicator).
3. Study existent methods of increasing picture's quality, taking into account specific character of the initial pictures.
4. Carry out filtration of the picture and remove the artifacts using an optimal method.
5. Pick out and realize optimal color model of determining picture's parameters.
6. Find dependence between picture's parameters and environment's pH, obtain regression equation.

The future of my speciality

The future of my speciality looks perspective. I reckon, many entrants are interested in CSD and with pleasure join this speciality, I'm in the firm belief that they wouldn't regret that. Of course, I'd like to have more practical studies with existent medical systems of diagnosis, but that is yet impossible because of high workload of medical equipment, it's highly cost and great number of students.

The plans for the future

In the next 5 years I plan to apply acquired knowledge on practice, after all, thesis of my life is philosophical expression "practice is the truth criterion". My future activities I bind with medical equipment. Since I carried out my first and second practical trainings in Donetsk Diagnostic Center under the direction of chief engineer and obtained approving mark of my work, I would like to continue working in this establishment on my speciality. Also one cannot exclude possibility that I might work in Donetsk Insitute of Family Problems under the direction of my today’s scientific adviser Gerasimov I.G.

In further future having matured morally I want to begin medical activities, to enter post-graduate of DonNTU, to carry out research in medical domain. Having achieved certain beneficial effects I plan to obtain academic degree. One cannot exclude teaching activities in Ukrainian institutes of higher education.

As strategic prognosis I plan to continue scientific activities, it is quite possible that having increased professional qualification I will continue working in scientific domain, thereby, increasing Ukrainian rating among other countries and evolving native science. Time will show.

To Begin...
