    Biography

       My name is Alexander Chelpanov. I was born in 1986, on April 21, in the town of Komsomolskoe of Donetsk Region. My mother Galina K. Chelpanov works as an accountant in the local hospital. My father Sergey N. Chelpanov is a training officer in a vocational school.

       I am the youngest family member except for our cat. Therefore in particular I was surrounded with kindness and caress from the early childhood.

       Before I reached the end of the second year of my life I started to attend a day nursery. After finishing it I was taken to the a playschool “The Little Poplar” (Topoliok). I can’t tell now what the reason was, but that institution for the moment seemed horrible to me and I hated it with all my heart. So in a month I was already moved to another establishment named “Zhuravushka”.

       After finishing the playschool my parents sent me to the secondary school ą1. That was the first place where I was distinguished among other children. I loved studying at school from the very first day, though as time passed I slackened off and finally there was no more than a habit. The habit to be a leader. On the third school year I got a bicycle and cycled everywhere I could. In spite of great amount of my hobbies I always could take part in numerous competitions in mathematics, English language and literature.

       Time passed. Amidst studying and leisure I nearly missed a humble nuance - that I had finished the 9th grade of school already. And there the questions arose - What should I do next? Should I enter a technical school like my brother or stay at a secondary for two more years?

       In between I shall mention that my brother had finished the technical school with honours as well as the Donetsk National Technical University, Automatic control of technological processes and production.

       So, I made a decision and stayed at school. And for that step I should especially thank my teacher and the form-master Valentina J. Zoria. I will be always obliged to her.

       Well, the high school. The school year started easily. There were a lot of my old schoolmates and friends in the new class. We used any opportunity to get together and celebrate whatever the occasion may be and were never bored.

       Again two careless years passed amidst studying and leisure. The graduation came and brought me a silver medal award along with the wind of big changes.

       My expectations proved right. First of all I had met my special girl at the school leaving party – to tell the truth that was my classmate Anne. Second, more questions were revealed: what university to choose? What specialization to master? It was simple to choose a university – surely the Donetsk National Technical University, but as for the profession I was not so sure at that moment. After some hesitation I decided between “Automatic Control of Technological Processes and Production”, “Management of Electromechanical Industries” and “Electromechanical Equipment of the Power-consuming Industries” and joined the latter. I never regretted the choice made.

       Entering the Donetsk University became my start of University of Life.

        From the very beginning I was amazed by the huge university premises and also by the amount of them, scattered all over the city. Studying at the University seemed hard for me at first and the professors seemed severe, but before long everything came to order.

       The knowledge I received at school allowed me to participate in the competition on Engineering Graphics and take place among ten best first-year students. Then I understood clearly how much better was to study hard during semesters but relax afterwards on the holidays and at the time of examinations – I passed almost every exam automatically with an excellent mark.

       In the second year I started the Theory of Electrical Engineering with the Professor, Doctor of Technical Science and simply the great person, S.V.Karas. He was the one who taught me the true understanding of Science.

       The third and forth years passed in the constant reminding by the professors of coming State Examination and handing over our Scientific-Research Work for the Specialist degree. I whill say now that professors had not deceived us and the time to pass over our Researches and to sit for the State exam came nevertheless indeed.

       As for the State Examinations – I won’t say much. It was rather easy to pass there, with all the knowledge and skills I had got from the best professors and excellent professionals of our University.

       The subject of the Research Work – I had chosen it at once. I wanted to study the driving gear, specifically the implementation of the frequency controller. Thus I met Alexander Tkachuk, unknown to me by that time, the acting director of the UkrNIIVE, who became my scientific adviser. I informed him of the research line, chosen by me, and Mr. A.Tkachuk immediately provided me with the topic of my future research: “Recommendations development for the upgrading of the band conveyor electric drive efficiency”. With that topic I spoke at the All-Ukrainian Student Contest, Mining Engineering section, received the First place award for my report and with it the gratitude of Professor A.Grudachov of our university department.

       In collaboration with my scientific adviser Mr. A.N.Tkachuk I wrote an article for the periodical “Explosionproof Equipment: Proceedings of the UkrNIIVE”.

       Together we spoke at various conferences and contests, among them:

       - the conference devoted to The Science Day;

       – the VII International Scientific and Technical Conference for post-graduates and students “Facilities and Workflow Automation. Looking for Young Generation” (the Award of the Conference);

       – the All-Ukrainian Student Contest, Mining Engineering section (the First place award).

       My determination to obtain a master’s degree was irrevocable. I knew very well that was the opportunity to unveil my potential and abilities in full measure.

       My plans for the future: I aim at getting a job position that could bring me not only material benefits but also the keen emotional pleasure from results of my work.
