Childhood

I, Merenkov Andrei, was born 6th July 1988 in Donetsk in the family of Soviet engineers, one of the first graduates of the Computer Science Faculty of the Donetsk Polytechnic Institute. As many other children I went in kindergarten being 4 years old.

My brother — Lev Merenkov, is an alumnus of the Computer Information Technologies and Automation Faculty of DonNTU, specializing in automated control systems.

School

At 7 years age I went to school, in my case it was a secondary school ¹ 22. Here I studied until 2002, because this year I entered the Donetsk college in a math-oriented class.

In many ways, this choice has been made because of a wonderful mathematics teacher who works in the College of Donetsk — Sergey Gladkiy. Thanks to this man I have become the technical and mathematical thinking. By training under his guidance I later have had an ability to enter the Donetsk National Technical University, where I’ve got the 56 points from 60 on mathematics entrance examination.

I also want to mention my history teacher — Pavel Poroshin. He has given us the ability to intelligently and rationally judge not only the historical events, but events and facts in everyday life. Based on his rich experience, Pavel Poroshin has given us his knowledge and skills, which in many ways helped me to choose my profession and to form my comprehensively developed personality.

During studying in college, I participated in the district and city competitions in mathematics, also participated in the Open Physics and Mathematics competition of the Moscow Institute for Physics and Technology (MIPT), where I’ve been awarded with a diploma and an invitation for participation in the exams in this university.

University

After Donetsk college graduating in 2005, I entered the Donetsk National Technical University. Before submitting the documents for admission, I wondered about the choice of faculty and specialty. The choice was made in favor of the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics and specialty Systems programming. This decision was motivated by the prestige of this faculty and this specialty.

During the studying period I had a success, this allowed me to have an average 5.0 grade and get a Bachelor degree in System programming with honours.

Practice study, unfortunately, showed that the promised prestige of the specialty was not in obtaining of practical knowledge and skills, but the complexity and intensity of training courses, many of which do not meet the current level of technology. According to this, many of the skills had to be obtained individually. This often was not easy, because of lack of sufficient amount of leisure time, as well as physical and mental strength, that was due to overstress of the basic education process.

After receiving bachelor's degree, thanks to scientific cooperation between the Donetsk National Technical University and Stuttgart University, that is developed and supported by professor Vladimir Svyatny, I received an invitation for an internship at Stuttgart University from 01.08.2009 to 31.11.2009. During the internship, I have studied many of the practical aspects of scientific work and scientific cooperation. Also, I was able to train my knowledge of foreign languages in practice, also it was interesting to see the structure of Stuttgart University and come into contact with Western culture.

After receiving bachelor's degree, I decided to become the Masters at the specialty "System Programming". The choice was dictated by the desire to develop scientific work, including cooperation with Stuttgart University. To continue working in this field, the scientific leader was chosen Professor, Head of Computer Engineering, Vladimir Svyatny. Subject of master work — “Development and organization of the databases subsystem for distributed parallel simulator environment”.

Plans and goals

Plans for the near future — to become proficient on practice in the modern information technologies in the field of programming and administration, participate in interesting research or applied projects and research.

The distant goal — to reach a respect and acceptance as an outstanding specialist in the field of information technology, thereby providing a financially independent.
