BIOGRAPHY OF ERNEST KWAME NARTEY

Many days of our lives go by without a single imprint on our minds. Yet there are some special days whose memories are ever cherished and whose impact can never be forgotten. The day 5th February, 1989 might have been an ordinary Saturday for many but to David and Mary Nartey was a remarkable one. It was the dawning of a new light, the birth of their son Ernest Kwame Nartey.

CHILDHOOD

I, Ernest was blessed to be born and bred by such a great couple as my parents. David, my father was a gallant soldier (Army Officer) of the Ghana Armed Forces, thus his children spent all their childhood in at the barracks. Though born in Accra, I was raised in different cities of Ghana from Accra to the Volta region, Kumasi, and Sunyani, all in Ghana and this diversified experience and upbringing enabled me to interact with people of diverse cultures ; a quality which makes me an outstanding member of any multinational community such as that of a Ukrainian university. Being constantly surrounded by an atmosphere of discipline, I could not help but imbibe this priceless virtue..

SCHOOL

Right from childhood, I had an affinity for science, and also always had a special attraction to the mechanisms, technology, and inventions. I am thankful that my parents always encouraged me in this respect. I was keenly interested in science while in elementary school. I also loved sports and enjoyed playing football with my mates in the school team. My disciplined lifestyle earned me the post of school prefect in my final elementary school year..

Upon completing elementary school, I enrolled in secondary technical school where I was to read Mechanical engineering for three years. In my second year, I was appointed to serve on the disciplinary committee of the school, a committee which consisted of board members, senior staff and only two students. This was not surprising to my schoolmates because apparently my regimented nature was not inconspicuous.

EXPIRENCE

After my education in technical school, I worked for about three years in a machinery maintenance firm as a mechanical technician. I maintained a high sense of responsibility and in one year found me promotion. I became a supervisor at that firm. There, I was also elected as an executive member of the Workers’ Union.

UNIVERSITY

Though I seemed to be rising quickly in my field, I did not rest on my oars. I had a desire to further my education. Opportunity met with preparation, and in summer, 2006 I was admitted to the Donetsk National Technical University, Ukraine following my application. From 2006 to 2007 I studied Russian Language in the Preparatory Faculty of the same university in order to prepare for the main programme which was to be undertaken in the language. After that, I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Mining Machines and Complexes at the faculty of Mining Engineering and graduated in June 2011. I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree at the same faculty I am now a fluent speaker of Russian.

Topic of my Thises: Selection of Rationale Regime work of mechanization for mining and extraction of gold

I am a devout Christian who currently serves in Christian leadership. I am also regular speaker and a counselor.

Future Plans

The immediate plans for the future - to successfully defend my thesis in order to earn my Master’s degree. I also hope to pursue a postgraduate degree in Business management in the near future. After my current pursuit I would like to work in a gold mining company or a machine building one. My dream is to establish a mining machinery consultancy, so I would study further in order to earn a PhD in this field.

LONG-RANGE GOALS - to become a good specialist in their field and have successfully build a career. My dream is to establish a mining mechanization consultancy, so I would study further in order to earn a PhD and a Doctorate in this field.

My earnest desire is to contribute immensely to the technological advancement in mining. I believe with more mechanization, mining can be safer and easier. With hard work, discipline and optimism I can achieve all I have ever hoped for.
