Short biography:
Childhood
I was born on October the 10th 1985 in Konstantinovka. My mother, Chumak Tatyana, taught me to read when I was very young. Books were my friends in my early childhood. In general there were tales and magic world full with adventures attracted my imagination. Often I spent summer in a village, and I fell in love with nature, fresh air and picturesque scenery of boundless Donetsk prairies.
School
I started go to the first grade of the elementary school #6 in 1992. Though I could read faster of all in my class, I was not able to write absolutely. In 1993 I moved to the elementary school #3. It was pretty easy to study for me, my favorite subjects were history and geography. A real discovery was waiting for me in the 9th grade when PC-compatible computers with Windows 98 operating system were installed in my school. A new subject (informatics) came along with the new computers. I realized the world of computers and algorithms was a great interest of me while learning it. Though an educational programming language was far from high-level languages. I didn’t give reading literature up at school. I read adventure books and fantasy books. In my spare time I enjoyed playing football and spent a lot of time at a stadium with my friends. In 9th grade I started learning English though I didn’t realized it’s importance in the world of Computer Science.
When the time to select a profession came I had no doubts about the university (Donetsk National Technical University) and the faculty (Computer Science and Informatics). It was harder to select a speciality but I decided to choose Software Engineering. Thanks to the fact that I got my own computer after the 10th grade I was able to program on Pascal and compile my first real programs. It helped me to pass rating tests in spring 2003, so I was accepted to the university. I finished the school in summer 2003.
University
It was symbolically that my first study at the symbolically was English. I do not know either intentionally or by chance people who had designed the schedule let me know that without the knowledge of English there was impossible to achieve success in Computer Science. In September 2003 my life in the big city began. Studying was quite easy for me as I knew the main secret — to hand all the papers in as early as possible. Especially easy for me were programming studies in contrast to physics and math. Such studies as Basics of the Programming, Graph Theory, Functional and Logical Programming, Computer Networks (the section about Queuing Systems) were serious examinations for me, but I overcame them.
I have been working at Prospero Systems company since March 2007. I’m a software developer at Prospero Systems.
After I finished the 4th year at the university the bachelor exam (this is the most difficult and crucial exam) was waiting for me. Several month of training helped me to pass that exam.
I did not hesitate when selecting a leader of my master’s work. Yuri Ladyzhensky inspires respect not only for deep knowledge of different fields of Computer Science but also for exacting teaching style. As research theme I selected a subject field related to distributed data warehouses.
I have been doing the masters course and a research according with my theme since September 2007.
Prospects
As a CS graduate I would like to continue working in a software company. But the life does not confine itself to the work and in future I would like to materialize my thirst to adventures and travel all over the world.
