Childhood
I was born on March 5th, 1986 in Donetsk, Ukraine. My father Mykola O. Orlenko was a miner and my mother Galyna S. Orlenko was working in a communal services branch. But the happiness of my parents has been darkened soon, the boy was almost blind. I was started to be quite often carried to Odesa (and a little bit later to Kyiv) in a 3 years age old to get special treatments and consultations of the best ophthalmologists in Ukraine. That was the cause for my first desire about future profession to be born; I would like to be locomotive driver in long-distance train. But a bit earlier in the age of 2 years I was entered to day-care center. The only thing I remember from that time is cooked semolina which I have hated immediately. In the age of 4 years I was moved to another day-care center in a special group for visually impaired children. But I had been studying there only for one year when the bad time for the whole country and for my parents in particular has come. So I was moved to the day-care center which was the nearest to my home. In that center I have had my first real friends with whom I actively communicate till the present moment. At that time I took a great interest in cars. I knew nearly all the makes and models of car which is possible to imagine. Adults were often surprised by that knowledge. I can even say I was much good at cars then but not now. In the age of 6 year my eye was operated for the first time. That increased my visual acuity from 3 up to 30 percents, which allowed me to enter common elementary school.
School
I clearly remember wonderful sunny day September 1st, 1993. I was staying in line-up and had some sense of excitement. But that sense lasted soon. Me and my friends from day-care center were accepted to 1A class of elementary school #120. Next 10 years were fun and almost light-hearted. Study at school appeared to be very interesting for me. I was studying with pleasure and year by year up to 7th class were being finished with only excellent grades in my school progress record. But then the age conquered and the study became secondary. J And at that period I have watched some films in which law proceedings were demonstrated. That caused me to want to become a lawyer. When we entered 8th class we had new subject which was informatics. I haven’t liked it at first but my attitude has been changed a bit later when we had first practical training lessons. When I was studying in 10th class I decided to enter technical university and that my future profession would be related with computer science. I graduated secondary school in 2003 with only good and excellent marks.
University
So, general direction of my future profession became clear when I was studying in 10th class, but the particular specialty only in summer of 2002. I remember I was walking Artema Street in Donetsk when I saw stand which described each department and each specialty in Donetsk National Technical University. Off course I paid my attention to Department of Computer Information Technologies and Automation. And between all specialties on this department Telecommunication Systems and Networks seemed to be the most perspective and innovative. I didn’t procrastinate much and applied to admissions department for information about entrance conditions. I was informed about possibility to become a student beforehand as a result of successful pass of special rank tests. And I did it.
First month of study at university was the most difficult. In comparison with school workload seemed to be colossal. But soon I have accustomed to it and even managed to finish first semester with only excellent marks. Further studying become more and more interesting. On my second year I took part in regional contest in Theory of Electro Technology but with no success. Real success was only in future. On my fourth year the team of our university which I took part in with my friends-colleagues has won contest Professionals of the Future. This contest was organized by Ukrainian Mobile Communications Company which is one of the most successful companies on Ukrainian telecommunications market. This contest took place also under the aegis of Ukrainian Ministry of Science and Education and Ukrainian Ministry of Transportation and Communications. The main prize was a trip to Hannover, Germany on CeBIT 2008 which is the main fair in IT, telecommunications and electronics.
In my university I also have had number of new friends. And thanks to them I can definitely say this is the best time in my life by now.
To be continued
In the nearest future I plan to defend my master’s degree work and get driver license. Then I would like to find job in company where I could go on studying and improve myself as a professional and as a person. Also I want to learn one more language probably German or Italian. So to be continued…
