Biography

Childhood

My childhood is one that was actually one of the most exciting aspects of my life. I was born on 12th of July, 1980 to the family of Mr. and Mrs. Augustine and Cecilia Kanu. My parents are very hardworking business men and I was raised the same way to be hardworking.

School

When I was 2 years old I started my nursery education. I was enrolled in the Immaculate Heart Nursery School and that was one of the defining moments of my life. For me nursery school was so much fun that I wished that I would remain a kid all my life because at this moment in life there were practically no responsibilities. I was a very playful and lively boy. At a very early age I started to show great interest in learning as my zeal for reading, writing and drawing began to grow.
As a child, I always cried each time my elder brother got ready to go to school because I also want to go with although I was not yet up to the age to go to school. For this reason my parents decided that it will be necessary for me to start school because of my interest to go to school.
In 1985 I enrolled in my Primary One and I started studies as a primary school pupil. Primary school was quit interesting but a lot more serious and different from the nursery school. I came to realize that more will be required of me as I had become a school pupil. We started to learn simple math and English grammar as is required by our academic scheme. Initially Math was a little bit confusing and stressful because I was being introduced to this subject. My parents thought it wise that my initial foundation was very strong so they decided to hire a private teacher to help in some areas. My interest in Math gradually began to increase as I practiced with my private teacher.
As I as advanced in my class up to my 3rd class, I became very playful and started to loose focus in my studies so did my grades start to tumble. My parents always expressed their feelings about my attitude in school but all were to no avail. By the time I got to my 5th grade, my parents decided that it was time to change my school because my grades became so bad. Although that they planned to change my school and I was afraid to loose my friends, I also realized that all they were doing was for my own good.
After my transfer to my new school, my grades rapidly started to increase as I no longer had any distraction by my old friends. At that point I started to feel a since of achievement as my parents always praised me every time that I came home with a good result. I finished my primary school with very good result and proceeded to the secondary school where I also faced with many difficulties as well but at the end of the day I came out with flying colors.

University
This stage of my life became one the defining moments of my life as I made decisions that will change my life forever. I was given an invitation to come and study in Ukraine by my Uncle who also studied in Ukraine so many years ago. The idea of studying in a foreign country was very interesting talk less about studying in a foreign language that I have never learnt before in my life.
On arrival to Ukraine, I met different kinds of people and was interested with the Ukrainian culture. I was quickly enrolled for my language program to learn Russian which is very mandatory to study in Ukraine as lectures are only in Russian. Learning Russian for me was very interesting for me as this is my first foreign language although its is very difficult language. The teachers who I had were very kind and helpful to me, always willing to give their time to clear out any difficulty that I had.  These women gave me their all as they new the necessities of having a sound foundation of Russian in order to study in Ukraine. After my Russian class I was able to communicate with people with some little difficulties of which I was made to understand that I could still improve with time.
When I joined the university I was faced with some serious challenges of understanding in class because the pace at which my lecturers spoke was very fast. These were one of the many challenges that I was willing to face with all seriousness as it was one of the factors that would decide my future. I realized that in order to learn better I had to make more effort to improve my level of Russian. The beginning was very distressful for me as I gradually started to be depressed and frustrated because of the challenges that were hindering me from integrating into the system. I made so many efforts that eventually helped me on the long run to integrate fully.
After 4 years of so much stress and challenges, I received my Bachelors' Degree and that day was one of the happiest days of my life, a day that I had dreamt of all my whole entire life. Immediately after my Bachelors' Degree I decided to go for my Masters' Degree which I knew that was very important as I had the chance to grab this opportunity. During my masters I faced so many difficulties as well of which I easily conquered. I was opportune to have a supervisor who for me is one of the reasons of all my success in this university. My supervisor was Associate Professor Mrs. Ina Ivanovna Larina of the Department of Electrical Systems and Network, who guided me to choose my thesis topic. I choose The Optimization of Reactive Power. My topic is very significant in today’s production and distribution of electricity. The main focus of my thesis is centered on the optimization of the reactive power oversea. The aim is to research the various methods of reactive power optimization in other countries.

My Future Plans
In the future, I plan to defend my master’s degree thesis and receive my masters’ degree certificate and later consolidate all the knowledge that I have received from this great institution in some real time practice. After this period I’ll like to move on in building my career in business.
