MINIMIZATION OF TRANSPORTATION THERMAL ENERGY LOSSES: A WAY TO DECREASE FUEL COMBUSTION PRODUCTS DECREASE
During the transportation of heat energy, which is used for heating, considerable loss of it
is observed.
The improvement of thermal units and pipeline systems' thermal insulation lowers the need in
producing energy, what, in it's turn, favourably for environment.
Heat conductivity ratio is the index of materials' ability to conduct heat. Conformably to thermal
insulating materials - this is insulation index, or the ability to limit heat passage. It is measured in
W/m K. Ratio is the factor, which characterizes material, and depends on it's type and on mean
temperature value also. Ratio value at the given temperature depends on density of insulating
material in great degree.
The purposes of thermal insulation are minimization of heat losses, limitation of heat-carrying
agent's temperature drop, preventing condensation on inner and outer surfaces of insulated
objects, limitation of temperature on surfaces, preventing of thermal deformation, reduction of
noise spreading through the surface of insulated equipment, fire protection of steel constructions,
air channels and flues.
Currently a lot of heat insulating materials are offered at the market. These are, for example, mineral
wool, polyurethane foam, styrene foam, Isover, TSM Ceramic.
Mineral wool as natural, inorganic product, derivable as a result of mineral rocks melting
(mainly basalt), is in full measure ecological, natural thermal insulating material.
ROCKWOOL mineral wool is noncombustible, stable at to high temperatures (up to 1000°Ñ),
durable, chemically neutral, biologically steady and steam-proof. In average at t=100°Ñ is 0,05W/m K.
Polyurethane foam refers to a class of gas-filled plastics, i.e. foam plastics. Polyurethane foam
formation descends from reaction between two liquid components: polyol and polyisocyonate.
About 20 cubic metres of thermal insulation with 50 kg/m3 density can be received from 1 ton of
PUF(polyurethane foam).
Estimated service life is 25 - 30 years. Heat conductivity factor PUF is - 0,023 - 0,032W/m K.
